Nizo Yamamoto
Nizo Yamamoto (born in 1953) is one of the leading art directors and background painters in the Japanese animation world. Born on Fukue Island in the Goto Islands (now Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture), he was selected at the young age of 24 as art director for the animated TV series "Conan: Future Boy" and has since worked as an art director and background artist for the works of Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki. Yamamoto has been involved in many masterpieces of animation with his unique and poetic expression of scenery, which has fascinated many people.

This exhibition presents approximately 220 pieces of Yamamoto's background paintings, as well as never-before-seen image boards and production tools created during the production process.
