Nizo Yamamoto
The late anime art director, Nizo Yamamoto, who passed away on August 19, was born in 1953 on Fukue Island in the Goto Islands (now Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture). After completing junior high school, Yamamoto moved to a remote island, studied architecture and painting at an industrial high school in Gifu Prefecture, and then entered the animation industry after attending a specialized art school in Tokyo. At the young age of 24, he was selected as the art director for the TV anime "Future Boy Conan," and since then, he has been involved in numerous masterpieces in the animation world, including Studio Ghibli films, creating a distinctive and poetic background world.

In this exhibition, around 220 items, including background paintings from Yamamoto's early works to his latest creations, as well as unreleased image boards and production tools generated during the production process, will be showcased.
