Tamaki Yoshida
Born in Kobe, Japan, and based in Tokyo since 2000. Tamaki Yoshida began her career as a commercial photographer collaborating with various companies and magazines. Known for her ability to manipulate light, she captures the beauty and strength of her subjects, exploring femininity with simplicity and power.
In 2018 Yoshida launched a project to reexamine the unequal relationship between humans and nature, a theme she had long been concerned with. Her work explores this dynamic from a personal and intimate perspective, questioning how humans interact with the natural world and its creatures. Her current projects focus on environmental issues, including pollution caused by household wastewater and the increasing frequency of human-wildlife accidents, all while challenging unconscious behaviors that perpetuate these problems.

In 2024, Yoshida received the Ruinart Japan Award at the KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival. This prestigious award, selected by a jury, is given to a photographer participating in the festival’s International Portfolio Review. As part of the award, Yoshida traveled to the Champagne region of France in the autumn of 2024 to participate in Ruinart’s artist residency program. The works she created during this residency will be exhibited at KYOTOGRAPHIE 2025.
