How do you describe Shitsurai? A place has its own individuality. Artists place their works there. Place and objects resonate with each other to create a new place. It resonates with the people of the place. Small echoes resonate with new things, places and a human being. Each one is a small thing. Small things resonate with each other and spread out into the world. The exhibition, Shitsurai, is now in its 11th year. The venue, THE TERMINAL KYOTO, is a large traditional house with an earthen floor, veranda, courtyard, air-raid shelter and various other features. Not only exhibiting their works, but the artists harmonize their works. By going back to the starting point we seek what Shitsurai is all about again. Therein lies the clue to weaving a world that seems to be falling apart into one.
