Technical Essence of Original Illustrations for Children's Books - From the Collection of Miyagi Museum of Art

Hiroshima Museum of Art
Finished
The collection of original illustrations from Miyagi Museum of Art consists of works, especially from the early series of the monthly children’s book "Kodomo no tomo". These original illustrations were created by the artists in a wide range of fields, including Western-style painting, Japanese-style painting, manga, commercial design, and so on. So the selection of materials and techniques, as well as the use of various unique spaces on the screen, shows a sense of freshness. This exhibition explores the "secrets" of the expression from the senses in the children’s book, focusing on the traces of the artist's hands, painting materials, and textures.
