Seiichi Horiuchi
Seiichi Horiuchi was a leading art director in post-war Japan. He designed numerous well-known magazine logos for publications like Anan, Brutus, and Olive, as well as book covers and posters, showcasing his flexible thinking and unique talent across a diverse range of projects. At the same time, Horiuchi was dedicated to his true calling as a picture book author, beginning his career in this field in 1958. Throughout his life, he published over 70 picture books, including "Kurouma Blankey," "Gurunpa's Kindergarten," and "Taro's Outing." These books, known for their vibrant colors and innovative use of composition, style, and materials, continue to be beloved by people of all ages.

This exhibition will feature Horiuchi's early oil paintings and original illustrations from his picture books, providing a retrospective of his entire body of work. It will also highlight his pioneering role in editorial design for magazines in the post-war era, revealing the creative principles that were fundamental to his work.
