Hokusai Katsushika
Hokusai Katsushika, a renowned ukiyo-e artist from the late Edo period, is famous for "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," now featured on the new 1000 yen bill. Despite a tumultuous life filled with debt and constant moves, Hokusai produced an extensive body of work. This exhibition highlights Hokusai's journey, showcasing early actor prints, "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji," "Hokusai Manga," and late paintings, along with pieces by disciples and Henri Riviere’s "Thirty-Six Views of the Eiffel Tower."
