Finnish Lifestyle Design Illuminates Everyday Life

Hiroshima Museum of Art
Finished
Finland, the land of forests and lakes, is also known as a design powerhouse. Since declaring independence in the 20th century, Finland has established design as a significant industry, creating its style while drawing influence from Art Nouveau and Bauhaus movements. The distinctive shapes and colors seen in items such as tableware and furniture are designed with careful consideration for functionality. While known for its rationality, Finnish design also exudes warmth, often inspired by nature, a characteristic found in many Finnish designers' works. Finnish design items satisfy decorative and practical needs, adding color to people's lives, and are beloved worldwide for their combination of aesthetics and utility.
