Sirius is the brightest fixed star visible from the earth, except for the sun, and means "shining" in ancient Greek. The Okeda Collection assembles the "Shining Stars of Japan.”

Through traveling the world and encountering countless works at fairs and galleries, the Okedas have collected art that they were drawn to as if by love at first sight. Starting from a collection of antiques, they began collecting contemporary art in earnest in 2010 after an encounter with a work by Yayoi Kusama. With international exhibitions and art fairs postponed or cancelled over the past two years, they have turned their attention to the Japanese domestic market. The fifth exhibition of their collection will be the culmination of their ongoing search for works by Japanese contemporary artists and others brightening our future and giving us a sense of power.
