AKIINOUE is pleased to present “Looking for her”, an exhibition by Makoto Taniguchi, which will be held at our newly opened gallery space, AKIINOUE, located in Daikanyama, Tokyo.

Makoto Taniguchi was born in 1982 in Tokyo, Japan. He currently lives and works in Tokyo. His major solo exhibitions include "Where is your ♡?" (NANZUKA, Tokyo, 2022) and "We-presence" (Yoshiaki Inoue Gallery, Osaka, 2020). His notable group exhibitions include "Saitama Triennale 2023" (Former Omiya Civic Hall, Saitama, Japan), "TOKYO POP UNDERGROUND" (Jeffrey Deitch, New York and Los Angeles, 2019) and "Condo New York: Nanzuka at Petzel" (Petzel, New York, 2018).

Taniguchi draws inspiration from aspects of information society (characters, personal computers, the Internet, various technologies, etc.) which drastically change and develop as he ages. His practice employs mediums like computer-controlled video installation, animation, and mixed-media painting, incorporating both analog and digital elements without being confined to either.

For this exhibition, Taniguchi will present a video installation, along with a new canvas painting.
