Yumeji Takehisa
Taisho-era romantic painter and poet Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934) captivated the Taisho era with his portrayals of women known as "Yumeji-style beauties." His imaginative works reflect beauty in everyday life and empathy for the general public, including women and children, continually captivating viewers across time. In an era where Japanese and Western styles intermingled and society rapidly modernized, Yumeji dedicated his life to pursuing his ideal of beauty.

This exhibition commemorates the 140th anniversary of Yumeji's birth, showcasing approximately 250 works and materials from the museum's collection, including new acquisitions, spanning his career from the late Meiji period debut to the early Showa period. Witness the pioneering contributions Yumeji made across various genres.
