Nizo Yamamoto
Nizo Yamamoto, a native of Goto City, served as the art director for acclaimed animated films such as "Laputa: Castle in the Sky," "Grave of the Fireflies," "Princess Mononoke," and "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time." On August 19, 2023, he passed away at the age of 70 due to stomach cancer.

Until a week before his passing, Yamamoto was working on a manga adaptation of the local folk tale "Kanjigajō" from his hometown of Goto, leaving the final page of the draft incomplete, totaling around 120 pages. Until the end, he believed that "to live was to draw."

The "Nizo Yamamoto Memorial Exhibition" will reflect on his life's work and showcase unpublished pages of his final work, "Kanjigajo." It's an exhibition where visitors can feel the life and passion Yamamoto poured into his art.
