Daisuke Teshima Exhibition

Mitsukoshi Contemporary Gallery
Finished

Artists

Daisuke Teshima
Daisuke Teshima, who has dedicated himself to hand-carving wood sculptures, creates sculptures that harmonize exquisitely balanced caricature-like forms with archaic expressions reminiscent of statues of gods and Buddha. Despite their charming appearance, his works, which contain a large sense of presence and eternity, have attracted much attention both in Japan and abroad.

In this exhibition, his first at the gallery, he will present approximately 30 works, including recent and new works that expand on his past expressions. The sculptures, with their profound expressions, are unrestrained and seem to be coolly observing from a critical point of view the contemporary situation in which we are being driven right and left by other people's evaluations and values.
