For the month of April, we are proud to present, in the gallery of the Foreign Press Club of Japan, a telling exhibition to support Palestinian filmmaker and photographer Amer Nasser who is currently living a difficult and perilous life in the midst of a serious humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza. After losing his camera and computer in a bombing, the artist’s foremost means of expression, he was forced to turn to his only remaining means of recording history—a smartphone—to continue sending out daily videos and photos on social media. The images he distributes to the world are the very signal of his life from Gaza, where internet access is intermittent anddifficult to come by. Even though he faces such significant challenges, his work serenely captures the lives of people living in the harsh reality of the situation. Recently, we received this signal from Amer and would like to spread it to the world through exhibitions like this one.
With the cooperation of the “Palestinian Embroidery Belt Project,” this exhibition will introduce the important cultural exchange between Palestine and Japan.
