Ota Fine Arts Tokyo is delighted to present ‘A Day In The Life,’ a solo exhibition by Hong Kong-born painter Chris Huen Sin-Kan. As Huen is driven by observation of daily occurrences to create paintings based on the motifs of his family and the everyday environment, his immigration to the United Kingdom from Hong Kong in 2021 marked a major turning point in his artistic career. This exhibition presents his new series of paintings in which each work is uniquely defined by the colors of light shining into the room during different times of the day. In contrast, the brushstrokes used to depict the motifs are more muted, sometimes merging into the background. This subduedness seems to express Huen’s feelings toward moving away from the country he grew up in and into his new home. Additionally, there will be a concurrent exhibition at our viewing room, 7CHOME, which showcases both his latest and earlier paintings during his time in Hong Kong. Ota Fine Arts invite all to this rare opportunity to see the transitional period of Huen’s practice.
