Alfons Mucha
Alphons Mucha (1860-1939), one of the most famous Art Nouveau painters, is best known for his numerous poster works, including "Gismonda," a poster for a play by Sarah Bernhardt, but he actually worked in a very wide range of genres. His graphic and product designs, which combine the graceful female figures and flowers characteristic of Mucha's work, have a different appeal from his paintings.

This exhibition draws on the collection of Czech resident Dr. Zdenek Cimar to explore Mucha as a multi-artist, focusing particularly on his design work, which symbolizes the Belle Époque period at the end of the 19th century. On display will be Mucha's work in various forms, including book illustrations, postcards, confectionery and perfume packages, jewelry, oil paintings, watercolors, and photographs.
