Hideaki Anno’s latest film, “Shin Evangelion the Movie,” for which he was the general director, became a huge hit that surpassed 10 billion yen at the box office. This exhibition will cover Anno's activity from his years as an animator, director, and producer to his latest works, and will seek to unravel the secret of Anno's creative activities. Valuable original drawings and miniatures of "anime" and "tokusatsu" that became the starting point of his career, will be on display along with scripts, storyboards, image sketches, layouts, and original drawings, as well as various production materials, that are indispensable in his creating his own visual images.

Based on the concept of "a museum of encounters and the five senses," the Oita Prefectural Art Museum is an art museum open to the city, located in the center of Oita City. Designed by world-renowned architect Shigeru Ban, it features an impressive exterior that evokes the traditional Oita craft of bamboo art and open atrium space for everyone to enjoy. The museum holds permanent collection exhibitions of work by artists associated with Oita, such as nanga painter Chikuden Tanomura, nihonga artist Heihachiro Fukuda, sculptor Fumio Asakura, and bamboo craftsman Shounsai Ikuno, as well as unique self-produced exhibitions based on various "encounters" about four times a year. The museum also has a free space with exhibits, a café, and a museum store where visitors can easily come into contact with art.
