Yuki Shimizu
In "Surfacing," Yuki Shimizu imagines alternative histories based on actual events and tells a pseudo-history through images that have been destroyed by tidal action. Captivated by Tateyama during research for the novel "Hanamori no Chair," Shimizu creates a story that combines abstraction and realism by use photographs purposefully damaged by seawater to depict settings connected to Tateyama's history and topography.
