Yoshino Gypsum Collection: Masterpieces of Modern Japanese Painting / Special Exhibition: Mitsuo Banba

The Yoshino Gypsum Collection includes paintings owned by Yoshino Gypsum and the Yoshino Gypsum Art Foundation. Western paintings are entrusted to the Yamagata Museum of Art, while Japanese paintings are to the Tendo City Museum.

In this exhibition, approximately 70 summer-themed works by Meiji, Taisho, and Showa-era artists like Shoen Uemura, Taikan Yokoyama, Sotaro Yasui, and Ryuzaburo Umehara will be featured. Additionally, Mitsuo Banba's "Mausoleum of Uesugi Family," which won the Prime Minister's Award at the 108th Nihon Bijutsu-in Exhibition, will be shown for the first time in Yamagata.
