Takuya Minami
As a graphic designer, Takuya Minami creates designs for advertising materials, publications, and packaging for CDs and other products. He also contributes to the graphic and sound design of performances as a production team member. Among all his projects, his work with Dumb Type stands out as the most significant.
Minami first encountered Dumb Type soon after entering university, with no prior knowledge of the group, and says his work with them profoundly influenced him. Dumb Type is known for a collaborative production process, where members engage in open dialogue beyond their individual roles to create together. Minami’s approach, which he describes as “collaborative work with artists,” has likely been shaped by his 30-year involvement with Dumb Type. The exhibition’s title, “w/,” means “with.”
This exhibition features works selected by Minami, created for Dumb Type, as well as for artists like Ryoji Ikeda, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Shiro Takatani, with whom he has built relationships through his work.
