Show-Case Project Extra-1 Motohiro Tomii: The Presence of Objects and Matters

Motohiro Tomii
Keio University Art Center has been organizing exhibitions of contemporary art because we believe that it is important for young people to encounter the works of artists who are living in the contemporary era and to have opportunities to experience diverse viewpoints. As a new attempt, we are launching a three-year exhibition project with artist Motohiro Tomii, who is known for his works that use pre-existing objects to discover new aspects of them through his own unique perspective. An exhibition is an "event" separated by time and place. Usually, an exhibition is a once-in-a-lifetime event, which is one of the charms of exhibitions. We will consider what kind of development is possible by considering this "event" in a continuous form over three years, and will send out the challenge of a new "event" from a small exhibition room.
