Artists

Saki Murakami
This is a new exhibition by copperplate print artist Saki Murakami. The artist views the copperplate as representing the "heart," with the lines symbolizing "emotional scars," the ink that fills the lines as "blood," and the paper used to print as "bandages" (which serve to heal). In the large copperplate prints created with free brushwork, the artist's memories, along with emotions and thoughts born from life's experiences, are sometimes expressed as cruel and unsettling scenes. The exhibition will feature approximately five large copperplate prints and a selection of smaller, installation-based works.

Additionally, two of Murakami's large works are scheduled to be displayed at the "A Personal View of Japanese Contemporary Art: Takahashi Ryutaro Collection" exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, which opens on August 3.
