Artists

Miyuki Oka
"In situ" is a Latin term meaning "in its original place" and is used in various academic fields such as biology, engineering, and chemistry to describe experimental or observational conditions. This exhibition centers on the series of works titled "Taking Photos" by artist Miyuki Oka, which began in 2022. The artist herself, her family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers she has never met, take photos and videos with smartphones at various locations on Earth in the past, which are then rearranged using "here and now" as a clue. By navigating between data compatibility and individual absoluteness, the exhibition deals with contemporary records and history.

Note: Due to privacy concerns for the photographers, there are restrictions on photographing the artwork in the exhibition.
