Artists

Mio Hashimoto
Mio Hashimoto, born in 1980, creates animal sculptures that vividly capture warmth and vitality, reflecting the artist's personal encounters with animals rather than generic representations. Inspired by the experience during the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake, where the artist saw landscapes with animals disappear, Hashimoto began sculpting to preserve the essence of these lost lives. This exhibition focuses on the theme of "time," intertwining the lifespans of Hashimoto's animal models with the artist's own experiences. It showcases both new and previously unseen works, including sketches and notes that record the unique personalities of the animals she observes. Hashimoto memorializes and honors the lives of animals, inviting viewers to contemplate their significance alongside human existence.
