The Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art (HPAM) and the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art (HMOCA) will collaborate in this exhibition to answer simple questions about art. HMOCA opened in 1989 as the first public museum in Japan to specialize in contemporary art. The museum’s closure for renovation will be an opportunity to present 80 works from different periods and genres from both museums' collections at HPAM. What is the difference between modern art and contemporary art? What is meant by "figurative" and "abstract"?

Hours	9:00-17:00 Closes at 19:00 on Fridays.
Closed	Monday Open on a public holiday Monday but closed on the following day. Closed during the New Year holidays and in between exhibitions.
Notice	Open on January 2 and 9. Closed from December 25 to January 1.
