"Kao" ー Face

Morimura@Museum is pleased to present a special exhibition, "'Kao' ー Face," featuring Yasumasa Morumura's works under the theme of "face." Morimura's face will be transformed into a paiter's self-portrait, the face of a fashion model, the face of a banknote, and so on.
Dogs and cats don't think, "I want to change my face." However, humans change their faces by arranging their hairstyles and applying makeup. Perhaps "face" means being human.
But we do not know what the future holds. Ririko, the main character in Kyoko Okazaki's manga "Helter Skelter," becomes beautiful through a series of plastic surgeries, but eventually, the balance between her original "me" and her newly acquired "face" shifts.
This exhibition will explore the mysterious nature of "face."
