The artist has worked as a fashion designer but since 2005 performs garment correction and repairs independently. However, her "repairing" is not simply returning something back to its original state. She turns the elements of wear and tear into an aesthetic motif, such as holes in wool featuring the cute head of an insect poking up, or turning loose threads into a fringe. This not only transforms old, unusable things into new objects, as well as adding cute finishings, but it also infuses into us a deeper love for objects.
This exhibition displays some of the designer's handmade "repairings", her gifts to friends and family, as well as sketches of her work published in magazines. There will also be workshops during the exhibition and Yokoo herself will be working in the gallery.
