Tokyo Photo 2009

Belle Salle Roppongi
Finished
There are numerous art fairs held in world major cities where hundreds of galleries gather at once and exhibit and sell works of art. Among them, Paris Photo, first launched in 1997, is the biggest European fair devoted to photography, held every November in the basement of the Louvre Museum. Last year, a total of 120 galleries from 20 countries participated in the fair, attracting 40,000 visitors and 1,000 journalists. This last year's edition featured photographs from Japan, helping Japanese art galleries make their global debuts. This year, Tokyo Photo Planning Committee has assembled both domestic and international galleries which have exhibited at Paris Photo, and will hold its first Japanese photo art fair "Tokyo Photo".

Concurrently held will be "Photo America" Exhibition organized by Museum of Photographic Arts (www.mopa.org/). From the museum collection consisting of 9,000 works, handpicked pieces will be on view.
