Saori Akutagawa Exhibition

Yokosuka Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Saori Akutagawa
In the 1950s, Saori Akutagawa (1924-1966) received much attention for bold and unique motifs depicted in vivid colors. Her works include paintings with motifs reminiscent of plants, a series of "screaming woman" paintings, and a "folklore and mythology" series, which could be called her most fantastical group of works. Although Akutagawa established her own distinctive style, she passed away at the early age of 42. Yokosuka Museum of Art is the first public institution to hold a retrospective exhibition of this gifted artist. Alongside her paintings, works created by her peers from the same era are on display.
