Tokyo Photographic Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Yoko Asaumi, Tomoko Sawada, Yumiko Shiozaki, Lieko Shiga, Junko Takahashi, Shizuka Yokomizo
At a time when virtual space is spreading continuously, problems and issues connected to the "body" are intensifying. The most advanced and innovative forays into contemporary photography, video and other forms of art are examining this plainly physical fact of our existence from various perspectives. This exhibition focuses on just such forms of contemporary art in a Japanese context. Among the exhibiting artists are Yoko Asaumi, who won the special prize at the Konica Minolta Photo Premio in 2007; Tomoko Sawada, who moved to New York in 2007 and continues to win much acclaim for her work; Yumiko Shiozaki, who founded her unique style on a mix of holography and photography; Lieko Shiga, who won the 33rd Kimura Ihei Prize for photography; Junko Takahashi, who pursues her art using both video and photography; and Shizuka Yokomizo, highly regarded for her conceptual works. This is a prime opportunity to gain a general overview of the high points of contemporary Japanese photography.

Lectures and talks are also scheduled (Japanese only). See website for details.
