Fukusuke-san, celebrated for its chubby cheeks and topknot, originated in the mid-Edo period as a symbol of good fortune. Based on a real individual, Fukusuke inspired numerous dolls and solidified its iconic look during the late Meiji era. This exhibition presents approximately 100 Fukusuke dolls from the Kadokawa Culture Promotion Foundation, highlighting their evolution and the intriguing stories behind this cherished figure.
