The Order of Culture - Lineage of Three Generations: Shoen, Shoko, and Atsushi Uemura

Nihombashi Takashimaya 8F Hall
Finished

Artists

Shoen Uemura, Shoko Uemura, Atsushi Uemura
An exhibition will be held for Shoen(1875-1949), Shoko(1902-2001), and Atsushi(1933-) Uemura pursuing the beauty of Japanese-style paintings for the three generations of the parent, child, and grandchild in succession.

Shoen was honored as the first female recipient of classy Bijin-ga (portraits of a beautiful woman) in 1948, Shoko for studying New Japanese-style paintings with nature as a motif in 1984, and Atsushi for the enigma of nature through the appearance of birds in 2022, respectively.

The motifs and painting styles are different from each other; however, the passion for drawings and underlying aesthetic senses have been surely handed down to the present day throughout the ages. Don’t miss the chance to appreciate the artwork of three generations of the Uemura family that has inherited the beauty of Japanese paintings.
