Koyo Ishizaki
Ishizaki Koyo (1884-1947) was a Japanese painter of the modern Kyoto art world who left behind many brilliantly colored and gorgeously gorgeous paintings of flowers and birds.

Born in Toyama Prefecture, Koyo studied the Rinpa school in Kanazawa, then went to Kyoto to study under Takeuchi Seiho. He traveled to India to experience the tropical landscapes, and drew attention from the art world with his vivid depictions of flowers, birds, and landscapes, including his masterpiece, Scattered Rain. Koyo also studied ancient Japanese paintings in depth, incorporating this knowledge into his own work. He was interested in Ito Jakuchu from an early age, and is known for discovering and introducing Jakuchu's masterpieces to the world.

This exhibition is the first retrospective to present the full scope of Koyo's artistic career, showcasing approximately 40 representative works and materials from his early to later years from the collection of the Fukumitsu Museum of Art, Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, located in Koyo's hometown.
