The Mysterious Journey of Taiwanese Comic Book History - 100 Years of Book Lenders and Comics

Yoshihiro Yonezawa Memorial Library of Manga and Subculture
Finished
This exhibition focuses on the historical evolution of book rental shops in Taiwan and provides an overview of the types of manga that have been read, distributed, and produced in Taiwan. In Japan, book rental shops played a major role in the popularization of manga. The history of book rental shops in Taiwan, which began in 1895 during the period of Japanese colonial rule, is roughly the same as that of Japan. Looking back on the 100-year history of Taiwanese bookstores and manga also looks back on 100 years of Taiwanese history.

This exhibition explores the development of Taiwan's bookstores and manga over the past 100 years together with the Japanese public. The exhibition will be divided into three sessions in order to provide a more detailed look at the various exhibits and explanations.
