Shuntaro Tanikawa
The exhibition opens along with the publication of Rakuen, a book of poems and photographs by Shuntaro Tanikawa. In the exhibit, photographs taken by the poet between the ages of 18 and 21 will be displayed. Tanikawa's fresh and pure gaze shines through the photographs which have never before been seen by the public. These photographs depict the artist's acquaintances, family, and casual daily life in the 1950s. After 70 years, people living today will surely resonate with the artist's sense of distance from society and longing for freedom.
