Contemporary Heis presents "Marks & Traces," Shinya Sakurai's fourth solo exhibition at the gallery. Having studied dyeing and textile design in Japan, Sakurai began working with two-dimensional works in Italy. The artist creates paintings by layering a large amount of paint on support by mounting the cloth.
This exhibition will feature Sakurai's "Marks & Traces" series, paintings that use stars and hearts to leave imprints and traces of hope and peace on canvas. By creating works that depict symbols of hope and peace on screens, the artist explores what is essential in the complex relationships of contemporary society.
