Naoya Hirata
Naoya Hirata (b. 1991) presents sculptures constructed in virtual space using pre-existing 3D models and images collected from the internet, primarily employing the assemblage technique. These sculptures are then projected into reality. By using virtual images, he embodies another reality within a new order, questioning the relationships between tangible objects by experimenting with different versions of possible worlds. He also reflects on a contemporary interpretation of the history of sculpture.

In March 2023, he presented a VR artwork at the reopening exhibition of the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art. Currently participating in the exhibition "Between Synergy, Creation, and Generation" at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (until March 3, 2024) as part of Unexistence Gallery (Iku Harada / Naoya Hirata / Asuka Fujikura / Yantsu).

In this exhibition, various sculptures created in virtual space, including new VR works, game pieces, lenticular works, etc., will be extracted into the real world using different methods and displayed.
