Midori Mitamura Artworks -Weaving Everyday-

Contemporary Art Factory
Starts 4/12

Artists

Midori Mitamura
Midori Mitamura, who began her career as an artist in the 1990s, has created unique sculptural works and installations inspired by images selected from various family photographs, including her own. Her works evoke the ambiguity and fluctuating meanings often felt in fleeting moments of everyday life. Since the 2000s, she has also engaged in residency-based art projects, exploring the "scenery" that emerge from the accumulation of subtle experiences during her stays, and expressing them as photo-based installations in various locations around the world. For this exhibition, Mitamura spent a month in Nishijin, conducting research and creating new works. In the space of a traditional townhouse, once used as a textile workshop, she exhibits installations interweaving images discovered in the everyday scenes of Nishijin with fragments of memories that reside in the site.
