Kohei Kawazu
Kohei Kawazu’s first solo exhibition at the Tsukuba Museum of Art, Ibaraki. Known for creating works inspired by spaces on the verge of demolition, Kawazu has explored how to confront these realities since graduate studies. The exhibition will feature around 20 works, including "Breath, Breath," (2021), which captures the essence of abandoned spaces by photographing them after thorough cleaning, and "To Your Bones in the Ashes, to the Ashes in the Bones"(2023), a video piece exploring the meanings and rituals of erasing place memories. Another notable installation, "Ma-ba" (2023), presents a composite image of a demolished apartment complex as both a memorial portrait and architectural blueprint.
