Kisho Kakutani
MU GALLERY is pleased to present “FOGs” by Kisho Kaqkutani 2/1(sat) to 2/16(sun).
This exhibition explores the possibility of reality brought about by “invisibility” through Kisho Kakutani’s artworks.
The “Fog” series, which will be presented for the first time at this exhibition, focuses on the theme of human visual and mental processes: “What do we capture and what do we miss?” In the scenery we usually see, there are many areas where we interpret the information we have captured in a vague and convenient manner, even if we are not consciously aware of it. In this series, the artist expresses this sensation by painting with paint, presenting it as an incomplete view of “as it is”. The viewer is reintroduced to a landscape that he or she may or may not have seen. We hope that Kisho Kakutani’s artworks will provide an opportunity to reconsider the reality that we are usually aware of, and to illuminate our own memories and experiences.
