Jun Shirasu
This will be Jun Shirasu's fourth solo exhibition at Eitoeiko in four years, since his first exhibition in 2010. Shirasu was born in Tokyo in 1965 and moved to the UK after graduating from Musashino Art University. He studied azulejos (Portuguese tiles) under a Portuguese professor at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, where he studied printmaking. Encountering the decorative culture that has been produced uninterruptedly for 500 years since the 16th century, it has become a core form of expression for the artist, along with printmaking.

At the exhibition, unlike the large-scale murals that span multiple sheets, Shirasu captured a daily narrative story and translated it into a single tile like a tanka or haiku poem.
