Japanese Art x Graphic Design

Takasaki Tower Museum of Art
Finished
The characteristics of Japanese art include soft color tones achieved with mineral pigments, serene spaces depicted through variations of ink, and ornate decorations. Particularly notable is the skillful composition that translates three-dimensional space into two dimensions, influencing many artists.

In this exhibition, the work of Koichi Sato (1944-2016), who excelled at the forefront of design, integrating Japanese sensibilities with futuristic imagery in "Japanese Spirituality in Graphic Design," will be prominently featured. Alongside posters by Sato, the exhibition will also showcase writings, ukiyo-e prints, and Japanese paintings, exploring the relationship between Japanese art and graphic design.
