Hasegawa Machiko Art Museum / Hasegawa Machiko Memorial Museum
Finished
This collection exhibition titled "Depicting Figures" will showcase carefully selected works from the collection that depict various expressions of people by different artists, allowing viewers to discern not only the relationship between the artists and their models but also the emotions involved. Among the exhibited works, are Chagall's affectionate piece "Flowers and the Eiffel Tower," Picasso's first work in the Saltimbanque (Itinerant Performers) series titled "The Frugal Repast," Tsuguharu Fujita's piece featuring a girl seated on a chair, Tsutomu Fujii's depiction of his daughter's growth in "Gentle Breeze," Seimei Ikeda's "First Painting," Sosuke Morimoto's ongoing portrayal of a specific model in "Flower Pattern," and sepia-toned sketches.

This exhibition will introduce works by the oil painter Ryusei Kishida (1891-1929), depicting his daughter Reiko. This year marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of Reiko Kishida (1914-1962). Ryusei cherished Reiko deeply and captured her likeness using various techniques. His collection includes over 20 oil paintings and more than 70 sketches, watercolors, and ink paintings featuring Reiko. The gallery holds three watercolor paintings of Reiko, including "Reiko Standing Figure," "Reiko in Western Attire," and "Reiko" (Seated Figure), which will be displayed together in this exhibition. Additionally, works by Reiko's daughter, the painter Natsuko Kishida will be shown.
