Osamu Tezuka
The year 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the medical manga "Black Jack" by Osamu Tezuka. The world of manga and anime that Osamu Tezuka pioneered has now become a major culture that is respected by people around the world. "Black Jack" is said to have influenced many of today's leading medical professionals, and the themes and messages contained in this work are sure to have a deep emotional impact on people today.

The story of "Black Jack” centers around a dark genius surgeon with a scarred face, and Pinoko, an "18 years old and 0 years old" girl he created. The story of these powerful characters is set around the world and spins out of numerous themes, from human and animal life and the medicine that saves it to the way we live as human beings, to the fundamental question, "What is the purpose of a doctor in the first place?”

This exhibition will reveal the fascination of the manga "Black Jack," from its birth story to the deep humanism of Osamu Tezuka's work, and the realistic depictions of medical treatment that we, who experienced the Corona era, find novel even today.
