East Tokyo, which has prospered since the Edo period thanks to its many canals and water transportation, has experienced various disasters such as fires, earthquakes, and wars over the past 400 years. Each time, the city has been rebuilt by the perseverance of its residents, and life and culture have been layered on top of each other to make it what it is today. In addition, the free spirit of a place where many ordinary people lived has been passed down from generation to generation, and a new culture has been born.
This art project proposes a city that confronts its climate anew with the memory medium of “books” as its axis.
