Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA “Architecture & Environment”

TOTO Gallery Ma

Artists

Kazuyo Sejima, Ryue Nishizawa
This exhibition is mainly composed of the latest projects that Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa are undertaking in Japan and around the world. Their firm SANAA has been addressing the theme of “architecture and environment” for many years. As exemplified in their works including the Rolex Learning Center, EPFL (Switzerland, 2009) and the Louvre-Lens (France, 2012), they realize a way of architecture where the building becomes a medium through which people’s lives and the environment are interwoven to create a single landscape. Sejima and Nishizawa have received numerous awards including the Pritzker Prize (2010). This will be their second solo exhibition at Toto Gallery Ma since 2003, introducing the trajectory of their work from then on by showing not only SANAA projects, but also the works of Sejima and Nishizawa’s individual offices. This will be an unique opportunity to have a glimpse of the ongoing evolution of Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA.
