Mariko Matsushita
The Contemporary Art Foundation is pleased to present The Human Voice, a solo exhibition by Mariko Matsushita, grand prize winner of our 2016 CAFAA Award.

Matsushita has been creating a wide variety of works, such as paintings, an installation titled “Red Room”, in which she covers windows with red cloth collected from various places, a video work titled “Little Fox in London”, wherein she follows a fox living in London, as well as poetry, sculpture, and photography.

Matsushita’s works convey great energy and constantly ask us “What is Human?”. She pursues human existence and quietly but intensely resists the distortions of society and the oblivion to the shadow of death, pain, and despair in our history.

In this exhibition, a series of works created in 2021, will be presented. It will become one of the milestones that will lead us through various interpretations and imaginations of life and the state of society.
