Taisuke Makihara
Miyake Fine Art is proud to present a solo presentation of Taisuke Makihara, featuring an installation piece titled “River.”
Taisuke Makihara was born in 1977 in Hiroshima and graduated from Musashino Art University in 2003. He created a series of works entitled “Re-pair Series”, which includes a piece in which he takes pictures of popular sightseeing spots under restoration and compares them with postcards depicting the same spot. In 2008, he was awarded the Grand Prize at “Art Egg” at Shiseido Gallery, Ginza for his installation “flooring." The following year, he moved to London to carry out his research at Slade School of Fine Art. He creates his works with repetition and restoration to amplify the gaps between fragments of our daily life, following in the footsteps of many conceptual artists in the past. Recently, he has been showing installation works that he calls “Para-landscape.” This is Makihara's first solo exhibition since returning from London, and also his first show at Miyake Fine Art.
