Coinciding with the highly anticipated international contemporary art exhibition to be held this fall, the Yokohama Triennale 2008, we are hosting a total of 3 TAB Talks! Volumes 1 & 2 will be held at BankART Mini on the 1st floor of BankART Studio NYK, one of the venues for the Yokohama Triennale.
The keywords for TAB Talk Vol.1 are "regions" and "media". For TAB, an outfit that deals with information regarding art and design both online and offline, these themes are crucial in how they relate to this particular location, Yokohama.
Joining us for Vol. 1 will be two special invited guests: Tetsuya Ozaki, publisher and chief editor of the bilingual site REALTOKYO (www.realtokyo.co.jp) and the only bilingual art magazine in Japan, ART iT. Ozaki will talk about art-related media from an international viewpoint.
Hiroki Sugiura, chief editor of the Yokohama Keizai Shinbun (www.hamakei.com) and director of a non-profit organization, will focus on new media and its future possibilities that continue to emerge out of Yokohama.
Paul Baron, co-founder of TAB, will also participate in the talk. He will introduce www.tokyoartbeat.com to people in Yokohama, while also sharing with them future prospects for TAB's Art Map, a free pamphlet that TAB started publishing this year.
Anyone who is interested in creating media like magazines or websites, as well as those wanting to find out more about recent intriguing developments in Yokohama, are all welcome!
The bilingual talk (Japanese/English) will last about 2 hours. Right after, we'll have a short segment called the 30-second Pitch. Several members of the audience will be invited to introduce themselves to the audience, promote a recent project, or announce a new product, website or company in under 30 seconds. If you're interested, please give your name and contact info at the reception table. Then for another hour, we'll have drinks, chatting, and networking among guests and audience members.

Tetsuya Ozaki
Born in 1955. Publisher and chief editor of REALTOKYO and ART iT. Chief editor of the Insight Diaries. Involved in the launch of cultural information magazine 03 TOKYO Calling as associate editor in 1989, and took charge of the editorial direction of the Internet Expo Japan Theme Hall in 1996. Founded the bilingual cultural webzine REALTOKYO (www.realtokyo.co.jp) in 2000, the bilingual art quarterly ART iT (www.art-it.jp) in 2003, and REALKYOTO (www.realkyoto.jp) in November 2007. Published the CD-ROM book "Multimedia Kabuki" and the photo book "One Hundred Years of Idiocy". Currently associate professor at the Kyoto University of Art And Design.
Hiroki Sugiura
Chief editor of the Yokohama Keizai Shinbun. Standing director of the non-profit organization Yokohama Community Design Lab. After graduating from the faculty of science at Gakushuin University, he worked as a stage manager for music, theater and dance. Involved with the founding of the Harajuku area website and IT promotion in the Shibuya area. Moved his base to Yokohama in 2002 and established the non-profit organization Yokohama Community Design Lab. Founded web media resource Yokohama Keizai Shinbun (www.hamakei.com) in 2004 and assumed post of chief editor. Conducts fieldwork relating to regions and information as steering committee member of Hamacchi (sns.yokohama150.jp), a regional social network service in Yokohama launched last year. He also acts as regional information advisor for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
