The Shimane Art Museum made a fresh start on June 1, 2022, after a year-long major renovation that began on May 25, 2021.

In addition to the earthquake-proofing of the lobby ceiling, life-extension work (renovation of air-conditioning equipment, conversion to LED lighting, etc.) has been carried out to provide a comfortable environment for visitors and preserve valuable artwork. In addition to providing the citizens of Shimane Prefecture with high-quality opportunities to become familiar with art, we aim to enhance our activities so that the children of Shimane, who will play a leading role in the next generation, will be able to experience the joy of art and develop a sense of pride in living in this region.

Furthermore, in order to further enhance the attraction of the museum as a lakeside art museum, we are making new efforts to make it easier for visitors with small children to come to the museum.

In addition, the museum's restaurant will be renovated as the "Lakeside Restaurant. We hope you will take advantage of this new restaurant to enrich your time at the museum.

Please look forward to the new Shimane Art Museum, which will offer a variety of enjoyable experiences for a wide range of visitors.
